Sea Turtle Lays 135 Eggs on Beach in Phang Nga

A leatherback sea turtle laid 135 eggs on a beach in Khura Buri.

The Department of Marine and Coastal Resources (DMCR) told the Phuket Express that recently they were notified that a trace of a mother sea turtle was found on the Thung Darb Beach in Koh Phra Thong.

They found the turtle nest with 135 leatherback sea turtle eggs inside. Of those, 80 were fertile eggs.

The area was not affected by seawater or poor weather and the nest is being protected and monitored until the eggs hatch by the relevant authorities.

The DMCR officials stated that the baby sea turtles should hatch in about 60 days.
