A Myanmar man was arrested after he was caught trying to sexually assault a 14 year-old girl in Kamala.

The Kamala Police told the Phuket Express that on Thursday (January 24th) they arrested Mr. Han Mo Ong, 39, Myanmar national, within 12 hours of the report of the incident. He was also found without legal permission to enter and stay in the Kingdom of Thailand.

He is being accused of taking away a child not yet over fifteen years of age from a parent for sexual assault, child sexual abuse, detaining others with a knife, and carrying a deadly weapon in public.

The suspect reportedly used a knife to threaten the girl while she was waiting for a vehicle to go to school in the morning. He then forced the girl to walk into a small road but locals saw the incident before they helped the girl.

He remains in custody as of press time.
