Phang Nga – A tragic incident occurred near the Surin Islands where a 13-year-old boy, who was a Thai national from Nakhon Phanom, allegedly died after being thrown from a boat by his Russian father.
The Khura Buri Police were notified by emergency responders on Wednesday, January 22nd about the incident. The boy sustained severe head injuries from cut wounds and was taken to Khura Buri Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. His father, Mr. Artem, a 45-year-old Russian national, was taken to the Khura Buri Police Station for questioning.
An unidentified boat captain informed the police that they were returning to a pier after a trip to the Surin Islands. The boat had 17 Thai and 16 foreign tourists, along with five crew members.
Witnesses on the boat reported that when they were about four kilometers from the pier, Mr. Artem allegedly grabbed his son’s legs, pulled him up, and pushed him out of the boat. He then jumped into the sea himself. The captain stopped the boat, and crew members jumped into the sea to rescue them.
Mr. Artem initially resisted help but was eventually brought back on board. He was taken to the Khura Buri Police Station for further investigation.
