Kathu, Thailand – A local Thai man was apprehended by police in Kathu, Phuket, following a bag snatching incident involving a Kazakhstani tourist. The incident occurred around 6:30 P.M. on Tuesday, January 21st, as reported by the Kathu Police to The Phuket Express.
Mrs. Kamilya, a national of Kazakhstan, was capturing photographs near the Irawadee Intersection in Kathu when the suspect, identified as 31-year-old Mr. Thibet from Thalang, seized her bag. The stolen bag contained 4,000 Baht in cash along with several credit cards.
Swift action by the Kathu Police led to the identification and tracking of Mr. Thibet, who has a history of theft on his criminal record. He was located at an apartment in Kathu, where he was apprehended at approximately 10:50 P.M. in the apartment’s parking area.
Following his arrest, Mr. Thibet was taken into custody at Kathu Police Station, where he faces charges of theft.
