Three Foreigners Arrested with Drugs at Electric Daisy Carnival Thailand in Phuket

Phuket — Three men from Japan, Malaysia, and Myanmar were apprehended by the Cherng Talay Police at the Electric Daisy Carnival (EDC) in Cherng Talay on Sunday, January 19th, for possessing illegal drugs.

According to a statement made to The Phuket Express, the police identified the suspects as follows:

  • Mr. Saw, a 52-year-old Japanese national, was arrested with cocaine. He faces charges of illegal possession of Category 2 drugs.

  • Mr. Naing, a 33-year-old from Myanmar, was detained with methamphetamine. He is facing charges for the illegal possession of Category 1 drugs.

  • Mr. Ahmad, a 39-year-old Malaysian national, was found with both ecstasy and cocaine. He is charged with illegal possession of both Category 1 and Category 2 drugs.

All three were taken into custody at the Cherng Talay Police Station following their arrests at the concert. The police have not disclosed the quantities of the drugs seized.

This happened, notes The Phuket Express, just a day after two foreigners suddenly fell unconscious and died at the festival, which attracted over 127,000 people over three days. The cause of death of the two foreigners is unknown, but suspected to be drug related.
