Fire Guts Workcamp in Chalong

A fire has damaged a workcamp in Chalong with damages costing hundreds of thousands of Baht.

Firefighters from the Chalong Municipality were notified of the fire at 9:00 A.M. on Saturday (January 18th) at a workcamp in Soi Yod Sanae on the Chao Fa West Road in Chalong, Mueang Phuket.

They arrived at the scene with three fire engines to find lots of black smoke at the scene. The fire was heavily ablaze at the work camp made of zinc and wood. There are also many residential houses near the workcamp. It took about 45 minutes to control the fire which did not spread out to nearby areas.

No injuries were reported but the workcamp was heavily damaged by the fire. The cost of damages is being estimated at hundreds of thousands of Baht. The cause of the fire is still being investigated by the Forensic Police as of press time.
