Local law enforcement announced on January 16th, 2024 that they arrested a 43-year-old Thai man, employed as a hotel staff member, implicated in the sexual assault of minors and the distribution of explicit content involving more than ten young males. The arrest was announced during a press conference held at the Phuket Provincial Hall on Thursday.
Authorities were alerted to the situation by a non-governmental organization, leading to an investigation by the Law Enforcement Operation Center. The case came to light after one of the victims, a 15-year-old male, reported the assault. The investigation revealed that the suspect had allegedly produced over 1,000 videos depicting sexual acts, some of which involved group activities and were filmed in public spaces and vehicles. These videos were subsequently shared on social media platforms.
The Phuket Provincial Court issued a search and arrest warrant, leading to the swift apprehension of the suspect. During questioning, the individual confessed to the charges against him, which include the sexual assault of minors and the production and distribution of child sexual abuse material.
Authorities emphasized their commitment to protecting vulnerable populations and prosecuting those who perpetrate such crimes. The investigation continues as law enforcement works to identify all victims involved and to ensure they receive the necessary support and justice.
