PHUKET, Thailand – A tragic jet-ski collision at Patong Beach claimed the life of a Chinese tourist on Tuesday, January 14th. The incident occurred near the Dolphin Public Park, according to emergency responders who spoke to the Phuket Express.
At approximately 2:30 P.M., emergency services were alerted to the accident. Upon arrival, they found that lifeguards had already rescued two individuals from the water. Both victims were rushed to Patong Hospital, where 33-year-old Mr. Liu Hong Chao, a Chinese national, was pronounced dead on arrival.
The second individual, 28-year-old Mr. Lyu Zhifebg, also from China, sustained minor injuries. He recounted to lifeguards that he and Mr. Liu were riding separate jet-skis when they collided.
This latest accident has sparked renewed calls for enhanced marine safety measures in Phuket. Local residents have voiced their concerns to the Phuket Marine Office, urging immediate action to prevent further incidents, given the recent spate of marine accidents involving tourists in the area.
