Sea Turtle Lays 124 eggs on Beach in Phang Nga

Phang Nga –

A leatherback sea turtle laid 124 eggs on a beach in Khura Buri.

The Department of Marine and Coastal Resources (DMCR) told the Phuket Express that on Thursday (January 9th) they were notified that a trace of a mother sea turtle was found on the Thung Darb Beach in Koh Phra Thong.

They found the turtle nest with 124 leatherback sea turtle eggs inside. Of those, 76 were fertile eggs.

The eggs were relocated to a safer area on the beach where sea water could not reach the nest. The DMCR officials stated that the baby sea turtles should hatch in about 60 days.
