A so-called Russian mastermind was arrested after he was being accused of being the planner behind robbing and detaining a Russian victim at a hotel in Karon, along with a second man.

A Russian was allegedly robbed by a Russian suspect at a luxury hotel in Karon on Monday morning (January 6th).
Now for the update:
The Karon Police Chief Colonel Khundet Na Nongkhai told the Phuket Express that on Tuesday (January 7th.) they arrested the wanted suspect identified only as MR. ANDREI, 37, Russian national, at a luxury villa in Cherng Talay. He is being accused of being involved with robbery and detaining someone against their will. However, he has denied all the accusations and refused to give any comments to the media or police at this time, choosing only to ask for a lawyer.
Meanwhile, a second wanted suspect, identified as Mr. Dmitri, 36, who allegedly actually robbed and attacked the victim at a hotel, reportedly left Thailand, according to Royal Thai Immigration.
The Russian victim told police that he knows it was Mr. ANDREI who was threatening him via mobile phone while he was tied up by Mr. Dimitri. Andrei allegedly asked him to give him 120,000 US dollars in crypto currency.
It is unclear how the victim was certain the suspect was Mr. Andrei and police did not clarify if the two had a prior knowledge or business relationship with each other. The case continues to be investigated as of press time.
