UPDATE: Belarusian Man Officially Apologizes after Injuring Karon Police in Viral Video Seen by Millions

A Belarusian man on holiday in Thailand officially apologized on Monday (January 7th) after he injured some members of the Karon Police when he was intoxicated last month.

Now for the update:

In a gesture of remorse, 39-year-old Belarusian national Mr. Siarhei Asychuk, along with his personal lawyer, visited Karon Police Station today at 10:00 AM (January 7, 2024) to present a gift basket and apologize to the officers for his previous drunken and disorderly behavior.

The apology was received by Pol. Col. Khun Det Na Nong Khai, Superintendent of Karon Police Station, and Pol. Lt. Col. Wiwat Chamnankit, Deputy Superintendent of Investigation, Karon Police Station.

The incident occurred at 3:30 AM on December 11th, 2024. The Karon Police Station patrol unit received a report from their radio center about a foreigner causing a public disturbance, assaulting officers, and damaging property. Mr. Asychuk was detained after 20 minutes and taken to the police station to calm down. He was subsequently charged with three counts: drunken disorder, obstructing an officer, and damaging property. He was later granted bail by the Phuket Court. A video showing the incident went viral on social media and was shared by millions.

Through his lawyer, Mr. Asychuk expressed his regret, stating that he was drunk and unable to control himself, but had no intention of harming the officers. He acknowledged the damage caused to the image of tourism and expressed his willingness to undertake any community service ordered by the court. He also affirmed his love for Phuket Province and the joy he feels from its residents’ smiles. Mr. Asychuk confirmed that he plans to return to Phuket in the future but vowed not to repeat his actions.
