Phuket Sums Up Four Deaths from 74 Accidents of the Ten Dangerous Days New Year Road Campaign

Phuket has announced in total 74 road accidents with 71 injuries and four deaths in the Ten Dangerous Days New Year Road Campaign.

The Phuket Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) Office told the Phuket Express today (January 6th, 2025) details on the tenth day (January 5th) of the Ten Dangerous Days New Year Road Campaign from December 27th, 2024 to January 5th, 2025.

There were 4 road accidents with 4 injuries. Of those 4 injuries, two were Thais and two were foreigners. Two road accidents with two injuries were in the Mueang Phuket district. One accident with one injury was in Thalang district. One accident with one injury was in Kathu district. No deaths were reported on the 10th day.

Accidents were mostly caused by excessive speeding (64%), followed by drunk driving (16%) and reckless driving (13%). Most accidents involved motorbikes (93%). Fifty-four percent of road accidents occurred most on national highways. Most accidents occurred between 1:00 A.M. to 3:00 A.M.. (18%).
