Thalang –
A Saudi Arabian tourist and a taxi driver were fined 500 Baht each after fighting in Thalang.
The Phuket Tourist Police told the Phuket Express that a Saudi Arabian tourist and a taxi driver were called to the Thalang Police Station after a video clip was posted on the Newshawk Phuket Facebook page on Friday (December 3rd).
The taxi driver was identified by the police as Mr. Suradet, 42. The Saudi Arabian tourist was identified by police as Mr. Turki, 21.
The taxi meter driver picked up the two Arabian tourists from Patong to bring to a hotel in Thalang. They agreed to pay about 500 baht. When they arrived at the destination, however, the tourist said he only had about one US dollar in cash. The taxi driver took them to exchange money into Thai Baht at a mall in Thalang before going back to their hotel.
The taxi driver told the tourists they had to pay an additional fee for taking them to exchange money and the extra distance. However, the tourists refused to pay before they started an argument and attacked the driver and taxi.
Both tourists and the taxi driver have been charged with committing a forcible attack against another party. Both parties have admitted to the charge. They were fined 500 Baht each before they apologized to each other.
