Phuket Reports Total of 58 Accidents in Seven Days of Ten Dangerous Days New Year Road Campaign

Phuket has announced in total 58 road accidents with 59 injuries and one death in seven days (December 27th, 2024– January 2nd, 2025) of the Ten Dangerous Days New Year Road Campaign.

The Phuket Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) Office told the Phuket Express today (January 3rd, 2025) details on the seventh day (January 2nd) of the Ten Dangerous Days New Year Road Campaign from December 27th, 2024 to January 5th, 2025.

There were 5 road accidents with 5 injuries. Of those five injuries, two were Thais and three injuries were foreigners. Four road accidents with 4 injuries were in Mueang Phuket district. One accident with one injury was in Kathu district. No accidents took place in the Thalang district. No deaths were reported on the sixth day.

Accidents were mostly caused by excessive speeding (79%), followed by drunk driving (18%) and reckless driving (17%). Most accidents involved motorbikes (91%). Fifty-five percent of road accidents occurred most on national highways. Most accidents occurred between 1:00 A.M. to 3:00 A.M.. (18%).
