Thailand has announced a total of 272 deaths with 1,694 injuries from 1,739 road accidents in six days from December 27th, 2024 to January 1st, 2025 of the Ten Dangerous Days New Year Road Campaign from December 27th, 2024 to January 5th, 2025.
The Thai Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) reported on January 2nd, 2025 that the highest total number of fatalities, injuries and accidents were in Surat Thani with 12 deaths and 73 injuries from 63 accidents.
The DDPM reported details on the sixth day (January 2nd) of the road campaign. There were 50 deaths and 346 injuries in 339 road accidents.
Accidents were mostly caused by excessive speeding (38%). Most accidents involved motorbikes (86%). Forty percent of road accidents occurred most on national highways. Most accidents occurred between 00:01 A.M. to 1:00A.M.. (14%).
