Thai Man Charged with Attempted Murder after Stabbing Danish Man in Patong

Patong –

A young Thai man has been charged with attempted murder after he allegedly stabbed a Danish man at a hotel in Patong following an altercation.

The Patong Police told the Phuket Express that over the New Year’s holiday weekend they were notified that a Danish man was injured from a knife stabbing in the early morning hours at a local hotel. His Thai girlfriend told the police that they had stopped to use a public toilet at the hotel in Patong. In the toilet, they encountered the Thai man who got into a verbal and then physical altercation with the Danish man, although the exact nature of the argument was unclear.

The suspect stabbed the Danish man with a knife before fleeing the scene immediately, leaving the Danish man injured. His girlfriend called emergency services to take the man to a local hospital for medical treatment and to remove the blade, which had become stuck in the man’s body.

On the same day, police arrested the 27 year-old male Thai suspect at a house in Soi Kalim 6 on the Phra Baramee 6 Road in Patong. He was taken to the Patong Police Station to face charges of attempted murder. His name, as well as the name of the victim, were withheld by law enforcement officers however.

The suspect did not immediately release a plea or explain his actions to the media.
