Phuket Reports Top Total Injuries in Five Days of Ten Dangerous Days New Year Road Campaign in Thailand

Phuket has announced in total 43 road accidents with 43 injuries and one death in five days (December 27th – December 31st) of the Ten Dangerous Days New Year Road Campaign. The number of total injuries in Phuket is the top number in Thailand.

The Phuket Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) Office told the Phuket Express today (January 1st) details on the fifth day (December 31st) of the Ten Dangerous Days New Year Road Campaign from December 27th, 2024 to January 5th, 2025.

There were 8 road accidents with 8 injuries. Five road accidents with five injuries were in the Mueang Phuket district. Two road accidents with two injuries were in the Thalang district. One road accident with one injury was in Kathu district. No deaths were reported on the fifth day.

Accidents were mostly caused by excessive speeding (58%), followed by reckless driving (14%) and drunk driving (11%). Most accidents involved motorbikes (90%). Forty-four percent of road accidents occurred most on national highways. Most accidents occurred between 1:00 A.M. to 3:00 A.M., 3:00 A.M. to 6:00 A.M., 3:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. and 6:00 P.M to 9:00 P.M. (16%).
