In the early morning hours of Monday, December 30th, 2024, an alarming incident took place on Patong Hill, where a tour bus collided with two taxi cars on Phra Baramee Road, resulting in injuries to three foreign tourists. The accident was reported at approximately 3:15 A.M.

According to the Phuket Express team, Patong Traffic Police were alerted to the crash site on Phra Baramee Road, a notorious stretch known for its steep incline and sharp turns. Upon arrival, emergency response teams encountered a chaotic scene with two significantly damaged taxi cars and a tour bus bearing the scars of the collision.

The victims of this accident were identified as three Swedish tourists who were passengers in one of the affected taxi cars. They sustained minor injuries but were promptly taken to Patong Hospital for medical treatment. Their conditions are reported to be stable.

Witnesses at the scene provided initial accounts of the event to the police, suggesting that the tour bus driver lost control before impacting the taxis. These eyewitness testimonies will play a crucial role in the ongoing investigation. The Patong Traffic Police have not yet determined the definitive cause of the accident but are actively pursuing leads to ascertain whether speed, mechanical failure, or driver error were factors.

Phra Baramee Road, which connects Kathu to Patong, has been the site of several notable accidents over the years, often attributed to its challenging topography.

The Phuket Traffic Police have promised a thorough investigation, with updates expected in the coming days.
