Royal Thai Police Announce 2024 Achievements in Crime Suppression

BANGOK– The Royal Thai Police (RTP) have released a comprehensive performance report for 2024, showcasing what they call their extensive efforts in tackling crime across various domains. Pol. Lt. Gen. Archayon Kraithong, the RTP spokesperson, highlighted the achievements under the leadership of Pol. Gen. Kittirat Panphet, emphasizing a strict, continuous crackdown on criminal activities in line with national policies.

Criminal Case Arrests:

The RTP reported nearly 500,000 cases from January 1 to December 26, 2024, with 479,516 arrests made, representing a 93% success rate. These cases are categorized into:
  • Serious and Shocking Crimes: 2,280 cases with 2,158 arrests (95%).
  • Crimes Against Life, Body, and Sex: 16,618 cases leading to 15,790 arrests (95%).
  • Property Crimes: 42,330 cases with 39,308 arrests (93%).
  • Other Cases: 32,582 cases, where 17,514 were arrested (54%).
  • Crimes Against the State: 124,611 cases with 121,378 arrests (97%).

Drug Suppression:

Under the urgent government policy to combat narcotics, the RTP managed 249,029 cases, resulting in 241,607 arrests. Significant seizures included 1.026 million methamphetamine pills, 33,136 kg of ice, and assets worth 13 billion baht.

Technology and Online Crimes:

The RTP tackled 33,280 technology crime cases, with 33,635 suspects arrested. Key areas included:
  • Financial Fraud Online: 2,901 cases.
  • Fraud in Sales and Illegal Product Distribution: 4,858 cases.
  • Fake News and Computer Crimes: 6,117 cases.
  • Sexual Abuse and Human Trafficking Online: 340 cases.
  • Online Gambling and Transnational Crimes: 15,395 cases.
  • Ghost SIM and Mule Accounts: 3,669 cases.
The police also managed to freeze 336,943 accounts, preventing damages estimated at 35.416 billion baht.

The RTP launched operations like “Phitthak Pracharat 767” and “CIB Crush Influence” to combat influential figures, illegal money lending, and public space encroachments. These operations led to numerous arrests and seizures of illegal arms and drugs.
