Phuket Reports Total of 19 Accidents in Two Days of Ten Dangerous Days New Year Road Campaign

Phuket has announced in total 19 road accidents with 19 injuries and one death in two days (December 27th – December 28th) of the Ten Dangerous Days New Year Road Campaign.

The Phuket Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) Office told the Phuket Express today (December 29th) details on the second day (December 28th) of the Ten Dangerous Days New Year Road Campaign from December 27th, 2024 to January 5th, 2025.

There were 8 road accidents with 8 injuries on the second day (December 28th). Four road accidents with four injuries were in Mueang Phuket district. Three road accidents with three injuries were in the Kathu district and one accident with one injury was in Thalang district. No deaths were reported on the second day.

Accidents were mostly caused by excessive speeding (66%), followed by reckless driving (12%) and drunk driving (8%). Most accidents involved motorbikes (89%). Forty-seven percent of road accidents occurred most on national highways (52%). Most accidents occurred between 6:00 A.M. to 9:00 A.M. and 6:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. (21%).
