Patong –
An alleged foreign prostitute allegedly stole money from a French tourist at a hotel in Patong.
The Patong Police told the Phuket Express that earlier this week a male French tourist filed a report to police. He told the police that on Wednesday, Christmas Day, December 25th, he met a female foreign prostitute in Patong.
They enjoyed the night out together before going to a hotel in Patong. He woke up and found that 6,000 EUR or 213,000 Baht in money vanished from his bag and the female foreign prostitute had fled while he slept. The Patong Police are checking CCTV footage at the hotel and nearby to track down the suspect.
The name of the victim was not released and it was unclear if he could face any charges for solicitation of a prostitute which is technically illegal in Thailand, although largely unenforced. TPN Media notes that theft by night by a sex worker however is a serious crime in Thailand, regardless of the legality of prostitution. Additionally, it is unlikely the foreign prostitute had any sort of work permit or legal permission to be employed.
