Patong – A Thai transgender woman and a Thai woman were arrested for theft and illegal drug possession after stealing from a Belgian tourist in Patong.
The Patong Police reported to the Phuket Express that they were notified of the incident by a 58-year-old Belgian national. He informed the police that he was walking on Ratch Uthit 200 Pi Road when a Thai woman and a Thai transgender woman approached him. They hugged him and then walked away. Shortly after, he discovered that his 600 EUR (approximately 21,000 Baht) was missing.
Police reviewed nearby CCTV footage and identified the two suspects. They arrested the 33-year-old transgender woman, who was found in possession of 0.9 grams of crystal methamphetamine, and the 38-year-old Thai woman. Both suspects admitted to stealing from the tourist and were taken to the Patong Police Station to face charges of theft.
The transgender woman is also facing an additional charge of illegal possession of category 1 drugs, while the Thai woman is facing an additional charge of using illegal drugs.
