Hong Kong Tourist Detained After Causing Public Disturbance at Phuket International Airport

Phuket – A Hong Kong tourist was detained by taxi drivers in front of Phuket International Airport after causing a public disturbance.

A video clip of the incident, featuring an Asian man being apprehended by taxi drivers, went viral on social media on Monday, December 23rd. The Sakoo Police reported to the Phuket Express that they were notified of the disturbance by a taxi driver. Upon arrival, police identified the foreign man as Mr. Ka, a Hong Kong national. He was subsequently taken to Thalang Hospital.

The tourist arrived at Phuket International Airport on December 17th with a tourist visa. On Sunday, December 22nd, Mr. Ka visited the Sakoo Police Station, reporting that he had lost his passport and disclosing that he had a mental health condition. The police contacted his consulate and provided him with accommodation at a hotel near the airport while he awaited a temporary passport.

However, Mr. Ka then left the hotel and exhibited erratic behavior, including allegedly striking a taxi driver nearby. Police and concerned citizens intervened to control the situation.

The authorities are continuing to monitor Mr. Ka’s condition and are working with his consulate to resolve the matter.
