Phuket –

Two Myanmar nationals died while another Myanmar national survived after a boat capsized at a lagoon in Kathu on Sunday (December 22nd).

The Kathu Police were notified of the incident at 6:00 P.M. on the Bor Pla Tak Dad Road. Rescue divers arrived at the scene to find an unidentified Myanmar man who was exhausted. He told rescue teams that he and his other friends were on a holiday and that they lived in Rassada.

They came to Kathu to visit one of his friend’s relatives. They borrowed a boat to paddle in the lagoon before the boat capsized. He managed to swim back to the land but his two other friends disappeared in water.

Rescue divers took two hours to search in the dark and deep lagoon. Two male Myanmar bodies were found under the water. Their remains were taken to the Vachira Phuket Hospital to find their exact causes of death.
