Krabi —
On December 21st, 2024, social media in Krabi lit up with photos of the city’s iconic ancient human statue dressed in a Santa Claus outfit at the Vogue intersection in Krabi municipality. The quirky decoration is part of celebrations for Christmas and New Year 2025.
The statue, designed to resemble a prehistoric figure holding a traffic signal, has amused tourists and passersby, with many sharing mixed reactions online—debating whether it’s humorous or eerie, especially at night.
Krabi Mayor Pol. Col. Somdej Sukkarn explained that the festive attire is meant to welcome the holiday season. The statue has gone viral on multiple occasions in the past, such as when it was dressed in a mask during the COVID-19 outbreak or sporting boxing shorts in previous events.
