UPDATE: Driver Admits to Drinking Alcohol in Hit and Run Accident in Thalang-VIDEO

The driver who was involved in a hit and run accident that killed a motorbike rider admitted to police that he drank alcohol but claimed he had only one bottle of beer before the accident.

A hit and run driver has surrendered after crashing a motorbike and dragging the rider away for many kilometers in Cherng Talay.

Now for the update:

The car driver, identified only as Mr. Watchra, admitted to the Thalang Police that he was the suspect involved. On Friday night (December 13th) at 10:00 P.M. he went to his friend’s home near the Bang Maruan Public Park in Sri Soonthorn. He went to drink some beer with his friends but claimed he only drank one bottle, despite spending four hours there. At 2:00 A.M. on Saturday (December 14th) he said he headed back to his home in Cherng Talay alone.

When he arrived at the Bang Joe Intersection which is about four kilometers from where he started, he hit the motorbike rider. He was shocked with the accident and said he panicked before speeding away. However, he did not realize that he dragged the driver 850 meters from the scene. He turned back to his friend’s home and stayed there until the morning before police called him.

CCTV footage of the accident shows that the car was swaying after he continued to drive with the rider stuck under the car.
