The following is our weekly feature in which we highlight the top local stories in our area of Phuket from the past week. The number of stories differs from week to week.
These are chosen and curated by our editorial team and are designed for our readers to get a quick “catch-up” of important stories they may have missed. 2. Two Afghans were arrested at the Phuket International Airport with fake Kazakhstan passports.

3. A man surrendered himself to the police after he shot his mother-in-law to death in Koh Kaew.
The suspect told the police that the victim was his mother-in-law and they used to argue often. She allegedly showed her middle finger to him and verbally abused him.
4. A Chinese fugitive allegedly involved in a murder was arrested at the Phuket International Airport.
He allegedly murdered his uncle in China during an argument.
5. Heavy rainfall since December 12th triggered a landslide on Koh Phangan, with a massive boulder sliding down a mountainside and crushing high-voltage power poles along the Ban Tai-Haad Thong Nai Pan road.
