Thalang Hit and Run Driver Surrenders

A hit and run driver has surrendered after crashing a motorbike and dragging the rider away for many kilometers in Cherng Talay on Saturday (December 14th).

Emergency responders were notified of the accident at 4:04 A.M. at the Bang Joe Intersection in Thalang. They arrived at the scene to find the damaged motorbike on the road. No injured people were found at the scene.

The body of an unidentified male motorbike rider was found in front of the Cherng Talay Municipality which is about 850 meters from the Bang Joe Intersection.

The Thalang Police told the Phuket Express that they and the Cherng Talay Police checked CCTV footage and they found the suspected car. The white TOYOTA YARIS involved in the accident was seen heading to Pasak in Thalang.

The Thalang Police Chief Colonel Nikorn Choothong told the Phuket Express that at 10:20 A.M. the car driver, identified only as Mr. Watchara, 41, presented himself to the police. The motorbike rider was later identified as Mr. Kullachart Ampaisarn, 22.

At this stage he is facing charges with reckless driving causing death, escaping and not assisting at the scene, and not surrendering himself to officers. An alcohol blood test was conducted with the driver to see if he could face an additional charge.
