Catch Me if You Can: Intoxicated Belarusian Arrested after Injuring Police in Karon

An intoxicated Belarusian man was arrested after he injured police officers and damaged police vehicles in Karon on Wednesday (December 11th).

The Karon Police told the Phuket Express that at 3:10 A.M. they were notified from a concerned citizen that an intoxicated male foreigner was causing a public disturbance in front of a hotel near Karon Beach. They arrived to find the male foreigner who was later identified by police as 39 -year-old Belarusian national Siarhei Asychuk, 39. He was wearing only underwear. He was shouting and gesturing aggressively while his wife and kids were trying to calm him down.

Police and security guards tried to catch the man but he continually resisted arrest and refused to follow the orders of law enforcement officials, as shown in this viral video here taken by another media source. Relevant officers finally caught him but one officer sustained moderate injuries and a police pickup truck was damaged by him. He was taken to the Karon Police Station to face charges of public intoxication, causing a public disturbance, resisting law officers by doing an act of violence or threats, and causing property damage.

He is scheduled to go to court tomorrow, Thursday, December 12th and remains in custody. Meanwhile, his wife and children have reportedly flew home today to their home country and left him in Thailand.
