Thalang – A 33-year-old Myanmar national, Mr. Thura Kyaw, died after being electrocuted by a leaking power pole on a roadside in Thep Krasattri on Thursday, December 5th.

The Thalang Police reported to the Phuket Express that they were notified of the incident at 9:30 PM in front of a restaurant on Don Jomthao Road. Upon arrival, police and emergency responders found Mr. Thura Kyaw unconscious. He was transported to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Ms. Nok, a Thai national, told police that she was dining at the restaurant with two friends when another friend arrived with her boyfriend, Mr. Thura Kyaw. As they walked to the restaurant, Mr. Thura slipped on the wet footpath and touched the power pole, which was leaking electricity.

Ms. Nok mentioned that Mr. Thura had arrived in Phuket from America six days earlier to reunite with his girlfriend after being apart for six years.

The Thalang Electricity Authority determined that the power pole was leaking 220 volts of electricity. The power pole system in the area is managed by the Phuket Highway Office.
