A dugong was found dead on a beach in Nuea Klong.
The Thai Department of Marine and Coastal Resources (DMCR) told the Phuket Express that a dugong was found dead near the Jum Island in Koh Sri Boya over the past weekend. She was a female teenage dugong measuring 1.72 meters in length and weighing 55 kilograms.
She had started to decompose. Wounds from other dugong’s fangs were also found on her. An autopsy was conducted but her cause of death was found to be natural sickness and not being attacked by other dugongs.
