Koh Samui —
At 11:00 PM on November 30th, 2024, Bophut police in Koh Samui received a report from a hotel staff member about a foreign tourist’s body found washed ashore at Chaweng Noi Beach.
The victim, publicly identified only as Ms. Kamilla, 24, was discovered lying on her back, dressed in a white outfit with a watch on her left wrist. Blood on her face suggested injuries from being thrown against seaside rocks.
Her fiancé, Grigory, 47, confirmed her identity. He revealed that the couple, deeply in love, had planned to marry after returning to Russia, with wedding photos already taken.
According to Grigory, the incident occurred at 12:57 PM on November 29th, when Kamilla visited a scenic viewpoint, parking her red sedan and descending to a rocky area with a pink mat.
While sitting on a large rock, she was reportedly struck by a powerful wave and swept into the turbulent sea. According to Surat Thani local media, efforts to rescue her were immediately launched but unsuccessful.
Bophut police transferred her remains to Koh Samui Hospital for autopsy and are coordinating with her family in Russia for repatriation and funeral arrangements. This tragic event highlights the dangers of strong waves during stormy conditions around Koh Samui and other southern provinces.
