Chef Arrested after Robbing Mobile Phone Shop in Wichit

A chef was arrested after he robbed a mobile phone shop in Wichit on Wednesday (November 27th).

The Phuket Provincial Police told the Phuket Express that they were notified of the incident at a mobile phone shop near Makham Bay. Police arrived at the shop and checked CCTV footage to find that the male suspect was seen carrying a gun. He threatened a staffer for money and then sped away with 26,050 Baht.

Police later identified the suspect identified only as Mr. Yeast (alias), 29. He was arrested at a shabu restaurant near a convenience store in Wichit. He was a chef at the restaurant and he told police that he robbed the phone store because he needed money to pay for his debts.

Police searched his room in Soi Santisuk in Wichit and a gun was found in the room. Police took only seven hours to arrest the suspect. He was taken to the Wichit Police Station to face charges of robbery, illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition, and carrying a gun in public without permission.
