Phuket – Four foreign suspects have been arrested after allegedly robbing a Ukrainian man in Kamala of 250,000 USD in crypto currency.
The Phuket Provincial Police reported to the Phuket Express that on Friday, November 8th, at 10:30 PM, Kamala Police received a notification from an unidentified 23-year-old male Ukrainian. He informed the police that he had been robbed of his crypto currency at a residence in Kamala.
According to the victim, the foreign suspects allegedly tied his feet and threatened to break his fingers, demanding his crypto currency. The victim was forced to transfer 250,000 USD, equivalent to about 8.5 million Baht, to the suspects.
The Kamala Police requested arrest warrants for four foreign suspects, identified as an Armenian, two Ukrainians, and another unidentified foreign suspect. They are accused of robbery and detention. The Phuket Express noted that the victim’s name is being withheld pending the investigation.
On Monday, November 11th, it was reported that the four foreign suspects were arrested at a hotel in Phang Nga. They were taken back to the Kamala Police Station. As of the press time, the suspects continue to deny the accusations.
