In Total, 16 Dugongs Found Living Currently in Phuket

In total, 16 dugongs were found alive in Phuket recently.

The Thai marine and Coastal Resources Department told the Phuket Express that on Thursday (November 7th) two drones were used to survey the numbers of dugongs in the Phuket area.

There were 12 dugongs found in Pa Klok, Thalang. Of those, two of them were a baby with a mother dugong. Two dugongs were found in the Bang Pae Bay area, Thalang. Two dugongs were also found in Tang Khem Bay, Wichit.

The Phuket Express notes that the dugong is one of Thailand’s Reserved Animals which is nearly extinct. Trang Province is many dugong’s home due to having lots of sea grass.
