Huge Sea Turtle Rescued after Washing Up on Nai Yang Beach

A huge sea turtle was rescued after washing up on the Nai Yang Beach in Thalang.

The Thai Department of Marine and Coastal Resources (DMCR) told the Phuket Express that over the past weekend they were notified from a tour operator that a large sea turtle was found on the Nai Yang beach in Sakoo. The sea turtle was taken to the Sireetarn Marine Endangered Animal Rescue Center in Wichit by rescue workers.

She is a female adult Olive Ridley sea turtle which measures 65.5 centimeters in length, 65 centimeters in width, and weighs 21.5 kilograms. She was weak with some seaweed covered on her. Her front and back flippers were also sadly cut off. She is being provided treatment before being released back into the sea.
