Food Delivery Riders Protest for Higher Wages in Phuket

Phuket – On Monday, October 28th, around 50 food delivery riders gathered at the Kathu Public Park to protest for higher wages. The riders, who work for a popular food delivery application, voiced their concerns over the past three months’ working conditions, which have seen them receive numerous orders from outside their designated delivery zones.

The protesters highlighted the challenges posed by unfamiliar routes, which have increased delivery times and heightened the risk of road accidents. They argued that their current wages do not fairly compensate for these increased risks and responsibilities, demanding an immediate pay increase.

In a show of solidarity, the riders halted their services for two days, on Monday and Tuesday, October 29th. The protest, which lasted about an hour, concluded with the assistance of law enforcement to ensure a peaceful dispersal.

The riders hope that their protest will bring attention to their plight and prompt the company to take action towards fairer wages and better working conditions.
