Phuket –
A third dugong was found dead in Karon on Saturday (October 26th).
The Thai Department of Marine and Coastal Resources (DMCR) told the Phuket Express that they were notified of the dugong from a local resident at 8:40 P.M.. A dugong was found dead at the Karon Beach.
They arrived to find the deceased male dugong. He weighed about 110 kilograms and was two meters long. He was taken to the Sireetarn Marine Endangered Animal Rescue Center in Wichit to find his exact cause of death.
This raises many concerns among environmentalists and marine conservationists over what could be causing the sudden increase in deaths of dugongs in the area.
