Phuket –

The 64 year-old male suspect in Phuket in a missing child case had contacted the 12 year-old female victim via social media before picking her up at a home in Phang Nga.

Our previous story:

A 12-year-old girl from Phang Nga, who was reported missing 17 days ago, has been found safe in Phuket with a 64-year-old man.

Now for the update:

The unidentified suspect from Thalang admitted to relevant police that he had first contacted the girl via Facebook more than a year ago, when she would have been 11 and he 63. He drove a pickup truck and picked her up at her home in Phang Nga. The girl stayed with him at a rental room in Kamala for over two weeks.

He told police that this was not the first time he had done something similar. He stated that he had searched for lonely girls on Facebook before starting to talk with them. He encouraged and comforted them before asking them to stay with him at his rental room.

During the day time he went out for work and bought food for the girl, he stated. He allegedly admitted to sexually assaulting her and taking photos. Police tracked him down from his Facebook.

The suspect, who police have not identified by name as they state it could hurt further ongoing investigations into other possible victims, remains in police custody as of press time and faces multiple serious legal charges around child sexual abuse.
