A dugong was found dead in Thalang on Friday (October 18th).
The Thai Department of Marine and Coastal Resources (DMCR) told the Phuket Express that they were notified of the incident from a local resident at 10:20 A.M.. A dugong was found dead near a pier in Tha Ton Toe, Ko-En, in Mai Khao.
They arrived to find the deceased male dugong. He weighed about 200 kilograms and was 2.51 meters long. He was taken to the Sireetarn Marine Endangered Animal Rescue Center in Wichit to find his exact cause of death. The DMCR believed that the dugong became lost from his group of other dugongs.
