Sea Water Floods Main Road in Mai Khao – VIDEO

Thalang –

High tides washed up seawater onto a beach road north of Phuket, causing major traffic delays.

High tides washed up seawater, small trees, and garbage onto the Thep Krasattri Road, the main road northbound along Sai Kaew Beach in Mai Khao, Thalang, on Thursday (October 17th).

Vehicles that were heading north leaving Phuket were stuck on the road with multiple traffic delays for roughly three kilometers. Traffic Police assisted on the road while the water slowly decreased.

This incident occurs at least once a year during this season. The beach has become closer to the road after continued environmental erosion. This year the high tide flooded the road on Wednesday morning too (October 16th).

The Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Phuket Office has issued a warning that the high tide in Phuket can be up to several meters from October 17th to October 21st of this month.
