Karon Receives Landslide Warning Devices

Phuket –

A foundation for safety handed landslide warning devices to the Karon Municipality.

Our previous story:

Thirteen people have been found dead including two Russian nationals after a landslide in Karon on Friday early in the morning (August 23rd).

The Thai Department of Mineral Resources (DMR) will support the budget for nine landslide warning devices for Phuket by the end of this year.

Now for the update:

The Mod Chana Phai Foundation reported that earlier this week they handed landslide warning devices to the Karon Municipality. The Geoharbour (Thailand) company supported the device giveaway for the foundation.

The device measures the level of rainfall and analyzes the possibility of flash floods and landslides. The Karon Municipality installed the device on top of a mountain where there are many houses below. The main device will send warning signals to five warning devices at communities to cover all at risk routes.
