Police Investigate Russian Man Allegedly Working at Tour Booth Karon

Phuket –

The Phuket Tourist Police inspected a tour booth in Karon after they were notified by concerned citizens that a Russian man was allegedly working illegally selling tour packages.

The Phuket Tourist Police told the Phuket Express that on Thursday (October 10th), they inspected a tour booth which is located on the Patak Road. The inspection came after social media expressed concerns about foreigners allegedly working illegally as a sales person which is one of a number of protected employment occupations for Thais only.

A foreign man and a Thai woman were found at the tour booth. The Thai woman was found selling a tour package to customers. They were asked to go to the Karon Police Station for questioning.

The foreign man was identified by police only as Mr. Bodnar, Russian national. He has a business visa and also has a legal work permit with the tour company as a foreign customer coordinator. The Thai staff member is identified as Ms. Nussaaryatee, 20. She is a sales person from the tour company.

The Phuket Tourist Police has ensured to the Russian man that he must follow the terms of his work permit, which forbid personally leading tours.
