Phuket awarded ‘2024 World Festival & Event City’ by IFEA

Two of the beach resort city’s most popular events – Phuket’s Vegetarian and Peranakan festivals – are among the eight Thai recipients of the 2024 IFEA/Haas & Wilkerson Pinnacle Award.

Bangkok, 3 October 2024 – Phuket has been awarded the “2024 IFEA World Festival & Event City” by the International Festivals & Events Association (IFEA), making it the third city in Thailand, after Chiang Mai and Sukhothai, to receive the top honour.

The awards ceremony was held at the IFEA Annual Convention & Expo presented by atVenu, held on 29 September 2024, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, United States.

During the event, the 2024 IFEA/Haas & Wilkerson Pinnacle Award also announced eight additional wins for Thailand.

Grand Pinnacle Award – Silver for the Phuket Vegetarian Festival

Best Parade – Gold for the Phuket Peranakan Festival

Best Parade – Gold for the Chinese New Year Festival and Chao Pho Chao Mae Paknampho Procession Festival

Best Volunteer Programme – Silver for the Chinese New Year Festival and Chao Pho Chao Mae Paknampho Procession Festival

Best Green Programme – Gold for the Thailand Coffee Fest 2023

Best Children’s Programming – Gold for BICT on the MOVE 2023

Best Emergency Preparedness & Risk Management Plan – Gold for the Pattaya International Firework Festival

Best Video Promotion – Gold for the Chiang Mai Blooms

Over the years, the Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB), together with partners in the public and private sectors, have nominated Thai cities and festivals and successfully won numerous titles from the IFEA and IFEA/Haas & Wilkerson Pinnacle Award. Past achievements include the top honours for Chiang Mai and Sukhothai, which were named ‘IFEA World Festival & Event Cities’ for 2022 and 2023, respectively.
