One Person Injured after Fire Destroys Tour Boat off Thalang – VIDEO

A boat captain has sustained injuries after a fire destroyed a tour catamaran off Paklok after 22 tourists were dropped off at the Naka Yai Island.

The Phuket Marine Office Chief Mr. Nachapong Pranit told the Phuket Express that they were notified of the incident at 10:30 A.M. on Thursday (October 3rd) between the Naka Yai Island and the Rad Island.

The Boat captain, Mr. Jaroon, 31, told The Phuket Express that at 10:00 A.M. they left a marina at the Por Bay with 22 tourists. After dropping them off safely at the Naka Yai Island, he and Mr. Kanchit, 23, an engine controller, were heading back to the pier. On the way back, the boat engine malfunctioned.

The engine over heated before the fire started. They escaped from the catamaran before it capsized. The captain sustained minor injuries to his leg. The cost of damages is being estimated at about four million Baht.
