Phuket –

An injured sea turtle was rescued at the Kata Beach in Karon sub-district, Mueang Phuket.

The Department of Marine and Coastal Resources (DMCR) told the Phuket Express that earlier this week they were notified from a lifeguard at the beach that a sea turtle had washed up on the beach. They arrived to find a female adult Olive Ridley Sea Turtle.

The turtle is 60 centimeters wide, 64.5 centimeters long and weighs 27 kilograms. Wounds were found on her shell. The weak turtle was taken to the Sireetarn Marine Endangered Animal Rescue Center in Wichit for further medical treatment before being released back to the sea.
