Strong Winds Cause Tree to Fall, Blocking Road in Patong, Man Narrowly Avoids Injury

Patong– A man narrowly escaped injury after strong winds on Thursday afternoon, September 19th, caused a large tree to fall, blocking part of a road in Patong.

The Patong Police reported to the Phuket Express that they were alerted by a road user about the fallen tree, which obstructed one lane near a hotel on the Kamala – Patong Road.

Upon arriving at the scene, officers found that the tree had fallen onto power cables, leaving only one lane available for traffic. Staff from the Phuket Provincial Electric Authority (PEA) were called in to remove the tree and repair the cables, while Patong Traffic Police managed the flow of traffic.

An unidentified man, who was nearby, told the local press that he and his girlfriend usually sold fruit at a nearby stall in the same spot. Fortunately, due to the storm on Thursday, they had decided to stay at a nearby house instead of their usual spot.

The quick response from authorities helped to clear the road and restore normal traffic flow.
