Thalang –

A registered sea turtle was rescued after being washed up on a beach in Cherng Talay, Thalang.

The Department of Marine and Coastal Resources (DMCR) told the Phuket Express that earlier this week they were notified of the sea turtle being found from a park ranger at the Layan Beach. They arrived at the beach to find the young green turtle. Its gender could not be identified. The turtle is 44.5 centimeters wide, 60.5 centimeters long, and weighs 8.3 kilograms. Shipworms were found around the weak turtle.

The sea turtle has a registered number which was a baby turtle released at the Coral Island off Rawai in March 2022. It was taken to the Sireetarn Marine Endangered Animal Rescue Center in Wichit for further medical treatment before being released back to the sea.
