At 7:26 AM on September 15th, 2024, Thalang police and emergency responders were called to a fire at a cannabis cultivation warehouse in Srisoonthorn Subdistrict, Thalang, Phuket.
The warehouse, equipped with an automated electrical system for temperature and operations control, was reportedly engulfed in flames with thick black smoke filling the area.
Firefighters worked to extinguish the blaze, focusing on spraying water inside the warehouse, while other teams opened ventilation points to release smoke. It took over 30 minutes to bring the fire under control, according to the officers.
Initial reports suggested the fire might have been caused by an electrical short circuit, with firefighters finding flames near the control panel and electrical circuits, according to the officers.
No injuries or casualties were reported. Damage was estimated at around 3 million baht. Forensic investigators from Phuket will further examine the scene to determine the exact cause of the fire incident.
