TAT Launches Major Tourism Event Series to Boost Thai Economy through Soft Power

On September 11th, 2024, Ms. Thapanee Kiatphaibool, the Governor of the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), announced a new initiative aimed at boosting the Thai tourism industry through soft power with the “Charming Thailand: 5 Regions” event series. 

This campaign will showcase Thailand’s rich cultural heritage and innovative attractions through large-scale events across the country, designed to attract over 147,000 visitors and generate more than 800 million baht in tourism revenue.

Thapanee emphasized that tourism is a key driver of Thailand’s economy, and the TAT will continue to elevate the industry without pause. The event series, spread across five regions in September, will highlight local culture with immersive experiences in food, music, and art, including free concerts by famous artists. 

Visitors can also explore “5 Must Do in Thailand” activities, which will include DIY art zones and interactive photo spots, said Thapanee.

The event schedule includes:

  1. Southern Thailand: Charming Khanom, Nakhon Si Thammarat, September 14-15 and 20-22, at Na Dan Beach.
  2. Northern Thailand: HOP Chiang Mai Art and Music Festival, Chiang Mai, September 20-29, at Tha Phae Gate.
  3. Eastern Thailand: Chonburi International Music Festival in the Rain, Pattaya, September 20-22 and 27-29, at Central Pattaya Beach.
  4. Central Thailand: The River of Time, Kanchanaburi, September 22-30, at the Kanchanaburi Paper Factory.
  5. Northeastern Thailand: Esan Muan Suen, Khon Kaen, September 25-29, at Bus Terminal 3.
